About Us
The Apiary has been serving coffee and cake to Harleston for over five years now and we’re proud of the brilliant and talented cooks and friendly baristas that make up our team.
The Apiary was started by cook, coffee lover and beekeeper Mike Chappell who is, with The Apiary team, on a mission to bring high quality food and drinks to South Norfolk.
We buy local wherever possible, supporting a network of East Anglian suppliers, for instance our coffee is roasted in Norfolk by Green Farm Coffee, our flour is milled in East Anglia and we’re always on the lookout for local suppliers for all our ingredients.
Our team create our cakes, biscuits and street food here in store using our own special recipes.
During 2020, in a further effort to support the community, The Apiary transformed to become a Grocers, as well as a Cake & Coffee House. It was so popular that we’ve retained and enhanced the service, enabling you to shop online and have your groceries delivered to your door!
We all live in and around Harleston and love meeting people – next time you’re in, please say hello.

What We Do
THE BEST COFFEE IN SOUTH NORFOLK
Whether you want a takeaway or to sit and relax, our baristas will make you a coffee with Norfolk-roasted beans and a little extra love
THE HOME OF THE SHORTJACK
Of all the cakes and bread we sell, our favourite is Shortjack. It’s our own recipe, a shortbread base with a flapjack and caramel topping. And it’s delicious.
LOOKING FOR LUNCH?
We serve lots of lunches to hungry Harlestonians – savouries, salads, sandwiches and our toasted speciality, the Jaffle.
